Doug Gulick
Drums and Percussion/Backing vocals
Born and raised in Sunbury, Ohio. Bought my first drum set in 1975 while in the eighth grade (5-piece Standard Ludwig).
I am self-taught for the most part by playing along to Lynyrd Skynyrd`s double live album, thats right I said album. Played off and on for a couple years. My family moved to Ocala, Florida in 1977.
In 1980 began playing again where I played in several local groups, Free Ride South, Eternity, Steel Dice. Quit paying again while going through college. In 1998 I brought the drums back out per the request of my son Patrick so he could play. At that point a newly revived loved for the drums and music ignited and I have been playing ever since.
My next steady gig was playing drums for the CenterPoint Praise Band playing contemporary rock.   I started lessons in 1999 with Berkley grad Benjamin Wiseman and continued them until about 2003. In 2003 I auditioned for a gig with an established local classic rock band One Flite Up where I played for nearly 8 years.
In July of 2010 I helped form a new local rock band Second Slice who I currently play with. In that same year Second Slice was voted Best Local Band in the Ocala Magazines "Best Of" along with our lead singer being voted Best Local Vocalist.
My early influences consist of most all Southern Rock bands namely Lynyrd Skynyrd of course, jazz and blues. Influential drummers include Steve Gadd, Greg Bissonet, Dave Garibaldi, Eddie Bayers, Steve Smith, Tommy Igoe, and Bernard Purdy.
Second Slice is a local band playing locally so come check us out and be sure come up and say hello.
